Lit up as I walked past this evening to join a colleague's 'Poetry, Prose and Paperbacks' literary walk in Mayfair.
The walk included a stop at Henry Sotheran's Antiquarian Bookshop in Sackville Street. They commissioned the most expensive binding of a book done in the C20 - a jewel-encrusted version of Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat. It was sold at auction to an American and was duly packed off across the Atlantic in 1912 on the Titanic...
Just one of the fascinating stories she told.
