Ten months after being ripped off the wall the wire leading to the master phone socket is due to be replaced almost exactly where it was before following a number of appeals against alternative placements on the grounds of safety, legality and practicality. The only real difference is that it's now in considerably less visually-attractive condition than the wall to which it will be pinned following the plastering, painting and skirting-replacement. It was easy (though immensely tedious) to pick most of the paint off the wire though the repeated flexing required can't have been very good for it. Nicky isn't allowed to do very much this week but offered to take over the paint-flake-picking though gave up shortly afterwards, presumably after a reduction in the levels of the criteria within which the cable's remountability and cleanliness were being assessed.
