This is Volcan Sangay, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Remote and nearly inaccessible in the midst of the wilderness of Sangay National Park.

...think big white clouds hugging the hills and ridges marching West into the Andes. The giant cone of Sangay presiding over the world framed by the tangled riot of the jungle below.

...and to the East. The hazy green monster of the Amazon basin stretching unbroken over the horizon. Welcome to the lowlands. It grows hot, the bugs are huge, and the sheer throb of life around you pulses and wreaths in wild abandon.
