Wave Pattern
Small waves roll in
while the quietly smoldering sky
lends orange highlights to the water's surface.
I find myself mesmerized by patterns made
when the rollers rush toward a meeting point
and turn a collision into a wondrous meshing
of opposite forces.
Camera in hand
and wanting to catch
the moment of agreement,
I fall to my knees and foolishly aim
my human intention at Nature's indecipherable message.
The knees of my jeans are coated in wet sand
as I rise in a most undancerly way to my feet.
I look at the darkening waves and sky
and forgive the old dancer
for indulging in old dreams again...
of understanding and reflecting natural law.
I follow my old dog back to the car.
