Expectant Mum

It was another good night's sleep in the peace and quiet of the back bedroom. I delivered the intercessions and enjoyed it all the more as it was a baptism. The rain was pouring down this morning, though it has cleared up nicely at this end of the day. It's about 6C though. Chilly but not freezing cold.

I got a text from C at 10ish to say that she was definitely in the early stages of labour but that they were still going ahead with our planned lunch as she didn't expect things to get exciting til later on. So I prepped the baked apples for lunch and headed over to Chacombe, picking up a couple more apples from the supermarket on the way for G and M who were on their way up from Newbury to look after Teddy while C and S are otherwise engaged.

I missed the plumber today so am leaving a key for him to come in tomorrow. I think this'll be his sixth visit and this time he's checking a gas valve solenoid (?) whatever that is. While I've got hot water, I've still no heating, other than the fire.

We had a lovely roast lamb lunch, plus my baked apples (the Jamie recipe came up trumps) and a yummy hazelnut coffee. Teddy's come down with yet another ear infection but as it burst yesterday, he was a relatively happy bunny. He was clearly happy to have grandparents and aunty admiring him today. His grandparents will be in charge of him until the baby comes home now and they're in their element. Lucky Teddy.

Here is C, in between contractions... She's been putting a brave face on it, bouncing on her big ball and I've spent the time talking to distract her as best I could from the pains when they came. By the time I left at 4ish they were 5 minutes apart and getting stronger so fingers crossed for a delivery tonight or tomorrow. I left my pressies for the baby with them and am hoping to take one of my half days tomorrow afternoon to visit C and bub, assuming it's all over by then. I'm so excited.

I'll be ironing again in front of the recorded premiership rugby tonight and then watching some usual Sunday night tv fodder...
