days like today

days like today make me never want to stop being a grad student:

i woke up at 9, without an alarm. i made coffee and eggs in my pajamas. i then worked on my research project for about four hours. i got stuck and needed to email my professor. as i couldnt move forward without his response, i had to think of some other way to be productive. i have to read 1984 for class on monday, but i didnt have a copy.

so i went on an adventure to cambridge to go to the harvard book store. i found a used copy of 1984 as well as a new paperback copy of ts eliot's selected poems ($4) and walker percey's lancelot ($5). i couldnt resist. obviously.

after wandering through the bookstore for about an hour i sat outside in the glorious, glorious sun all afternoon. reading 1984. me, the sun, 1984, a cup of good coffee, happy people surrounding me. how could that not be a good day?

i needed today.

also 1984 is so good. if for some reason, like me you have not read it, go read it. now.
