Slow Rivers Run Cold...

Backblip

Poor Peter was promised a lie in then he had to get up at 8.30am to move his car from the front of the garage so Alan could get on his merry way to the ice rink! Never mind, I think the bacon and eggs made up for the early rise.

After that I took Peter up the Sma' Glen with his big stopper (hahahaha!! Make of that what you will!) for my lesson in ND filters.

There's a spot beside the River Almond that's accessible from the road and the river is quite fast flowing, so I thought it would be a good spot for Peter to attempt to teach me how to shoot soft water.

Unfortunately as we got there, light was fading fast (I'd forgotten how early it gets dark, especially when the day is overcast and you're in a glen!) and the water level was much lower than expected, given the recent heavy rain. That aside, we got the tripod set up and Peter set about trying to teach me the tricks of soft water photography.

I thoroughly enjoyed the lesson, despite being woefully underdressed for the freezing cold, damp day. What on earth possessed me just to put only a body warmer on top of a top with sleeves that stopped at the elbow I don't know, but within 5 minutes of getting out of the car I was frozen! Massive goose pimples (or poose gimples as I believe I exclaimed!) chittering teeth and numb fingers. Daft bint! Just as well Peter is so patient!

Back in the warm car and home to give Alan dinner followed by our dinner of chicken fajitas.

Thanks Peter for a lovely day, despite the cold! I had a great time in your company as ever and thanks also for letting me pick your photography brains and for getting my PSE11 to find missing files. What an invaluable friend you are! :D
