Still Life - "Things You Find In Drawers"

Let me preface this by saying we don't get many visitors these days so the guest room has been used most recently by the odd friend of our kids who happen to stay here on the rare occasion our kids are home from college...

Fast forward to today. Thursday is Thanksgiving, colleges are closed and the kids were expected to arrive home sometime tomorrow. Except we have a nor'easter roaring up the coast, set to dump 5-8 inches of snow on us between 8am and 6pm tomorrow, so they are going to "try" to come home tonight, and one is bringing a friend who is recovering from surgery, so, ta daaaaaa we need the guest room.

I got the guest towels out of one drawer and found a partially drunk bottle of (nasty) Sutter Home Chardonnay hidden among them. Hmmmm. Drawer 2 revealed a penknife and a half eaten bowl of cereal that was so old and dried out, the spoon was stuck to the bowl as if with cement....

The daughter has chosen the lesser of the 3 evils and has only admitted to the cereal bowl being hers!!!!
