Success!
I planted some new butterfly plants on Sunday morning, and within minutes butterflies were feeding on the nectar.
This afternoon, on just two plants there were 4 common brown butterflies all having a feed. I'm thrilled to bits, and I think I need a few more of this very attractive plant.
For our climate, this is a brilliant plant, Senecio vira-vira. Lovely highly dissected grey foliage, topped with fluffy white/cream flowers. It's very pretty, drought tolerant, and (obviously) a hit with the butterflies.
It seems that "gardeners" recommend it for the foliage alone, and dismiss the flowers as "not showy". Who cares!! I certainly don't.
Prettier.
