Rainy Montserrat
We've had quite a few days of heavy rain which have turned the road down to Isles Bay into a river - probably most of what was the Belham river now flows down this trail and has cur a deep furrow through the beach to the sea. It's a pity as they just regarded the road a week ago. At least the tree frogs are enjoying the moisture.
Unfortunately the rain has hampered the survey efforts - as well as the problems with the boat engine. You don't realise how easy it is to get hold of spares and qualified mechanics in the UK - everything takes a very long time to reach Montserrat, or is very expensive.
We went for a snorkel out into Isles Bay - initially the visibility looked awful but a quick duck dive showed an amazingly pronounced 2m deep layer on the surface and underneath it was pretty clear. It also showed a 4ft barracuda which was circling around eyeing our disembodied fins! He swam off into the murk :-)
