Pond Patchwork
Dear Diary,
I visited the pond to see what the snow storm had inscribed upon the water's surface. I was not disappointed. The water had been transformed into a patchwork of shapes, colors and textures. The light was luminous as it sometimes is after a storm and it etched the snowy surface with subtle fingers of of soft white.
The blue tones ran the whole range from darkest navy to pale cerulean. I loved the oval hole that reflected the snow covered trees. It seems I am not done with reflections just yet!
Even in winter an isolated patch of snow has a special quality.

ps. Thanksgiving Day was saved as one of my guests volunteered to cook the turkey at her home which had power and the rest of the feast was done on the wood stove. A great time was had by all!
pps. Power came back on and all has returned to normal...for the time being! Ah, the joys of living in rural Maine in the winter!
