I read today that Mad Frankie Fraser has died. Various newspapers, including the Guardian carry his obituary.
A nasty and violent thug, Frankie spent 40 of his 90 years in the nick for crimes such as attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and theft.
He liked to slash folk with a razor and on occasion extracted healthy teeth from folk who declined to pay protection money to his bosses in the London underworld.
My old dad spent his life working in factories after a decent spell in the RAF during the defence of Britain from the Nazi hordes. The local bowling club attended his funeral after which he was cremated.
The papers failed to record his passing other than to publish a paid for notice in the Glasgow Herald.
