Friday: Gemütlichkeit

There are two very good reasons to visit Mum at this time of year.  One is, of course, to visit Mum, the other is to eat the traditional St Martin's goose which you can get from early November onwards.

It consists of goose, red cabbage, chestnuts, dumplings and a baked apple stuffed with marzipan and is to be heartily recommended.

This was the lovely hostelry where we ate.  'Gemütlichkeit' is one of those words that can't really be translated.  It means cosy but is really so much more than that.........anyway, this place was very 'gemütlich'.
