Our Pastor's 60th Birthday.
A bright, sunny day with glorious blue sky.
Our Pastor, Richard, celebrated his 60th Birthday today. The congregation presented him with a Card and a gift. Richard has been involved with the Church for over 30 years and has been Pastor for the last 18 years or so. Two of the Deacons prayed for him at the start of the service. It was a joy to share with him in his celebrations.
Later, Eleanor and I went to a Lunch arranged for the Volunteers involved in the Dundee Food Banks. Around 80 people were given a delightful but simple 3 course lunch - mindful of the fact that many people in the City did not have as much to eat for their Sunday Lunch. Having heard George Osborne speaking on TV earlier in the day, when he said that the increased spending on the NHS and tax cuts would be paid for out of greater cuts to the welfare budget, I am sure we will need Food Banks for some time to come.
Thank you to all of you who commented on my Journal yesterday. There was unanimous advice that I should 'go for it' and get a mobility scooter. I realised that the only thing holding me back is the assembling and disassembling required to get it in and out of the car. If an easy answer to that can be found, I will indeed 'go for it'.
