Linlithgow Palace.

After sharing a lovely Birthday Lunch with Ali, Euan & Eve, MaggieD, the Birthday Girl, and I took Rona for a wander round the Peel in Linlithgow. The Peel is the parkland surrounding the old palace. This is an ancient site, being a Royal Lodge before "The Peel" fortified house was built in Edward Longshank's days. Following a huge fire, the palace was rebuilt by James 1, extended by James 3 & 4 but was more or less abandoned by James 6 with the Union of the Crowns. The old place was fired by Cumberland's troops following the '45 which more or less finished things off.
Back home to another helping of Andrew's Lasagne, yum!
