Scottish Tea Loaf

Here's my granny's tea loaf! I found the recipe and decided to give it a try - and it was perfect. The little plate it is on also belonged to her and I well remember it being brought out in the 1970s to entertain the many friends that visited her in her flat.

My granny was the last generation who baked to order. It didn't matter who visited unannounced. As she would be talking to them in the living room she'd be in and out of the kitchen making a batch of scones, angel cakes, a tea loaf or an apple pie. No need to ever be caught out without anything nice to give visitors.

Simpler times.
