Miserable morning

And even the ballerina statue in Covent Garden was dripping - and not from artistic exertions.

Operas are like buses. None for ages and then several come along at the same time.

Today was a Wagner marathon, the final dress rehearsal of the new production of "Tristan und Isolde". I can't make my mind up about Wagner. This was nearly five hours (glad it was a 10.30 start). Not a lot of action. Very similar sound. For part of the time I was wondering why they didn't just get on with it. Then immediately it would sweep me away and I could almost understand why people pay four figure sums and more.

Brilliantly performed. But maybe I'm not just a Wagner person.

A fabulous experience - and a lovely day with a friend.
