Edinburgh Day 3 - Sky Flyer, crap film & Chris Rea

Well, today was going to be a quiet day with a Chris Rea concert at Usher Hall to look forward to. However, it was the most beautiful bright sunny day in Edinburgh so I headed out after my cereal, toast, egg, bacon, tomato and haggis breakfast soon after eleven.

I was going to get the bus to Morningside and then come back to the Star Flyer which was part of the Christmas market entertainments when I felt courageous. As my number 11 turned onto Princes Street, my mind was made up and I decided to get on with it and get off early to tackle the Flyer while it was quiet!

I paid my money at the little kiosk and made my way over the metal walkway. There was only one other person on there that early and the attendant fastened me in next to the chap from Singapore who was both chatty and terrified! Whether it was the thought of the Star Flyer or me I wasn't sure and my cheerful remark that we could both scream together didn't remove the panic from his eyes!

No screaming necessary! The height and the icy cold air took the breath away as much as the fabulous view but it was marvellous and I took pictures the whole time with my camera securely fixed round my neck. My knees were knocking when we eventually came to a standstill. We wobbled off in different directions and I stood taking extra shots with my phone before I heard a familiar voice calling to me and then I had my second trip on the Sky Flyer. My companion didn't realise I had just done it but couldn't refuse my urges to give it a go! My heart was skipping a bit the second time round but that was probably the excitement and I survived to write this blip anyway.

I had my trip to Morningside and then went back to Ocean Terminal to see a really crap film - Interstellar - and then because it was so long I was in a rush to get to Usher Hall to meet my lovely A-Haven landlord/friend David as we were seeing Chris Rea.

That was a great concert! It was a little shorter than normal but it was a great end to the day. We were in the third row so had a great view as usual. That was a fine day indeed!

Track? One of my favourites from this evening - Where the Blues Come From + Josephine
