Death and dying
One of my passions is research into death and dying!
For the past twelve years I have worked with Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland, delivering training to volunteers who give so freely of their time to support people who have been bereaved.
It has been such an honour to have been involved. I feel humbled by their willingness to walk that dark, cold, north face with people they hardly know and to offer the most important skill of all...................to be able to listen without judging.
Yes we all think we can listen, but do we? can we?
Sometimes what we hear is too painful to bear, sometimes it touches our mortality and we become afraid, sometimes we block off our ears, sometimes we get angry and sad.
This book by Prof Danai Pappapdatou is my latest bedtime reading. She is coming over to Scotland in September to give a keynote address at our bereavement conference in Dundee.
It's been a sad day for me one way and another so .............tomorrow is another day!
