Mika Hakkinen at the Ross Fountain, Edinburgh

I went along to the Johnnie Walker 'Join the Pact' Driving Spectacular' in Princes St Gardens today. The idea behind it is that they get people to sign up (join the pact) to say that they will never drink and drive, and for each signature, Johnnie Walker will donate a kilometre of free transport for people to get home safely at Hogmanay.

I didn't have tickets for the Ross Bandstand where they introduced the drivers and where they were signing autographs, but there was free viewing along the top path of the gardens and around the Ross Fountain. I had no idea how busy it was going to be, so I got there early and found there weren't many people around! I suppose it is a work day! Can't complain about a front row view!
They had a speaker near the fountain so we could hear what was going on at the bandstand, and after the introduction each of the drivers did a few laps up and down the gardens and round the fountain - Kevin Magnussen went first, then Jenson Button, and finally Mika Hakkinen. Competition winners got to have rides with them, and there was one guy who looked like he was having the most fun EVER, haha!
Jenson and Kevin were driving McLaren sportscars, and Mika drove what I'm told is a Caparo T1 - apparently he's the only person allowed to drive it!

An entertaining morning, although 3 hours of standing in the cold turned my feet to blocks of ice and it took about 20 minutes of walking to make them move properly again! Brr!
