Steps to the Dell

I used this Carex which freely self seeds to edge the steps leading down to the Dell. It's all looking a bit dull and dank this afternoon but sometimes the setting sun can just catch them and light them up. It's not happened recently so I'm blipping them anyway. I like the way it seems to be 'rolling' down the hill. I do have to pull out a lot of seedlings as they are quite prolific but in the right place they work very well, especially over the winter. You can't see it here but I've started planting them on the other side of the steps.
In the spring there are pale primroses and erythronium to add more interest but generally it's about foliage and ferns.
