Castell Coch

Or 'The Red Castle' for non-Welsh speakers. We visited this one after a 2 and a half hour stint at Caerphilly Castle followed by pub lunch. There were so many potential lovely blips today but I picked the 'fairytale castle'. It is so called partly because it looks like one but also because the interiors are covered with paintings that represent Aesop's Fables, because the Marquess Of Bute wanted to impart morals to the populace who were unable to read by using images instead.

Great day out but my muscles are feeling all those steps we went up and down. I love having the opportunity to engage with our heritage in this way.
