Bike and Hike

The old road heading towards Stirling from Tullibody.

Had a relaxed (lazy) day watching the footy that was on and with all the exercise on TV I decided it was my turn. So I planned on a cycle to Causewayhead up to the top of Abbey Craig to the foot of the Wallace Monument, quick blip, and then back to sunny Alloa in the space of about an hour or so. Simple really.

The reality however, went something like this. I made my way from the house through Cambus along the cycle path, along passed the distillery and onto the old road to Stirling. Everythings going grand! Too grand!
Crossing the roundabout at the new road (I still call it that, despite the fact its been there for years) I motored on up onto the pavement on the otherside and along past a small hedgerow which after a few seconds I realised had been freshly trimmed and found myself dodging the thorny twigs before stopping and pulling out a fair few that had got stuck in my tyres. With blind optimism I decided to soldier on with the plan. 10 minutes cycling later I realised that the front tyre was goosed and on closer inspection the back one was heading in the same deflated direction as well! Bugger, I thought to myself.

2 punctures and 2 and a half hours later I finally arrived back at my folks house only to tell my dad the good news, as i had borrowed his bike!

Well it was Mothers day, and OMD had a right laugh about it!
