Cuban Crocodile
Some days it is just so hard to choose a blip.
Today was incredible. We spent the morning at an old sugar mill and I've blogged about the steam trains we found.
Then we traveled across Cuba from the Atlantic coast towards the Caribbean. En route we came across rural railway lines, dozens of identical abandoned concrete boarding schools, and the non-touristic, poverty stricken aspect of the island.
We went for a high speed boat ride on an massive inland lake, a trip enlivened both by frequent stops to fix the engine but also by my first ever sight of an osprey, and yes, it had a fish in its talons.
And we saw lots of the rare cuban crocodiles. These are reckoned to be the most intelligent crocs, and the only ones suspected of hunting as pack animals. I have to say they are also very charismatic.
