Jamie's Italian- Christmas meal

I booked a Christmas meal for a group of 8 of us a few months ago. I didn't really feel like going but decided to anyway. I first went to Jamies Italian in Cambridge about 5 years ago and loved it, now there are branches popping up all over the country! The Newcastle branch opened a year ago, in what used to be the Monument Mall. Its very stylish inside and we had a long table by the upstairs window where I could see all the way down Grey Street. I tried to take a photo out the window as the Christmas lights looked lovely, but it didn't work well through the glass.
The meal was okay but I was disappointed that we had booked the Christmas party set menu but there wasn't anything festive like party hats, crackers or Christmas music. There wasn't even any Christmas pudding for dessert.
The company was good though and I would definitely recommend it for a drink at the bar. I made it an early night since the funeral is tomorrow and it was very handy that the metro station is directly in front of the restaurant.
A new restaurant called the Botanist is opening in monument mall this week, I'll be interested to see what that's like.
