Kangaroo Island

First stop this morning was Finders Chase National Park Centre to buy our permits about £5 each for total access for the day. The Ranger suggested a plan of action which we followed.

We headed for Remarkable Rocks -some massive granit rocks that are just ballanced on the edge of the cliff. Then to the main purpose for being at this end of the island. Admirals Arch , a breading colony of New Zealand fur seals. Apparently there are 7,000 , we didn't count them but they were everywhere. The young are currently being born, so we watched them playing in the rock pools and surf - it was brilliant.

Then it was on to Hanson Bay which as it was about 28 degrees and not a cloud in the sky, it was an idilic location. Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves -I even had a quick swim!

At 6pm we set off on a 2 hour trail that we were advised to do near to dusk to see more wildlife. Too many little kangaroos hiding in the undergrowth to count, then this one who wasn't bothered we were there, but wasn't going to stand up and give up eating time ! Then on a bit and we found an 18 inch long lizard, he posed too as I hid behind the boss to take a photo. Finally when we had given up hope of finding a koala ,we saw twigs etc being thrown out of a gum tree and there high up was a very active one eating his tea and throwing down the rubbish.
