Hairy trip !
We left the hotel early again and drove to Cape Jervis to catch the 9am Sea Link ferry to Australia's 3rd largest island . The ferry wasn't a bad size, could take 50 vehicles and 300+ passengers. Most hire company's will not allow their vehicles to go onto Kangaroo Island which we thought was because of the high risk of animals jumping out in front of cars. We actually now think it's the crossing ! The vehicles weren't tethered in any way, and before we left port the captain said it was going to be a particularly bad crossing. We were all told we had to sit inside the cabin at the back , and not to stand or walk about during the crossing which would take about 10 minutes or so longer ! (55 minutes). More luck than judgement had meant we had missed breakfast , the crossing is accross the Backstairs Passage, where the current rushes through , Indian Ocean one side and Australia Straights the other side. I knew the best approach was to keep focused on the horizon -except most of the time you couldn't see it, so decided just to watch a particular cloud. Even "The Boss" said he had never been on such a rough crossing.
The blip was taken in Kinscote Bay where we drove for a early lunch. Still very windy so off to check the Finders Chase National Park out and see what wildlife we can find.
