Ebb tide on the Kent Estuary
Late afternoon looking westward from Arnside pier.
A day of showers and sunshine with ever changing tones and forms. Going to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription becomes a joy.
The estuary, though it is a place of beauty, is also a place to fear. Fast flowing tides, quicksands which move from place to place - all spell danger. Our coastguards have a hovercraft and specialist equipment and are highly trained. But every year there is a tragedy when people ignore the many warning signs.
