Life in Sunny Dubai

Decadence #2

So today we skipped church and decided to go gingerbread house hunting as we're going to the church's Christmas Cantata in the evening.

First stop was the Waldorf Astoria on the Palm. G had heard on the radio that they have built a 900kg gingerbread house that you can walk through. We got there to discover that the said house in their property in Ras Al Khaimah. The radio presenters must have had a slip. Anyway, as we were so far out, we stayed to have a coffee in their very elegant Peacock Alley restaurant.

We then popped into The Address Dubai Marina where they have the Burj Khalifa made out of gingerbread. It is only about 2 floors tall; and they have a gingerbread house that you can sit inside and hold meetings?! (True story) I er, don't think I've seen so much gingerbread at one time in my whole life.

We then came home for lunch and watched The Muppet Christmas Carol while waiting to go out again! It's always fun seeing that movie. The Cantata was good to go to... lots of effort put in by all the various participants and that always impresses me. And lastly, we called in at the Kempinski to see the snow park decorated for Christmas. I have to say, we would normally never spend time like this; today was a real exception. It was fun though for a change; some people here do it as the norm. We call them Jumeirah Janes; a title that has been around since the 1980s!
