Goose reflection

Out to see our friends Al and Liz today for the customary blow-out of delicious food and good company. Between lunch and tea and cake we try to go out somewhere to give the former a chance to settle before being followed by the latter.

We often go to the Lee Valley Country Park for a stroll around the wetlands, lakes and rivers that make up this very interesting area. Today we walked the short distance to the Grand Weir Bird Hide. As is often the case on these occasions there weren't any birds of note to be seen (I suppose we should not dimiss the ubiquitous duck, coot, gull etc really) and it was cold in the hide with the windows open.

As we walked back to the car I spied this goose standing contemplating the world in a flooded area of a field. The goose made an interesting reflection in the temporary pool and so I was able to zoom in in fading light of a cold afternoon and capture the moment. It was either that or a study of coloured lights in our hosts' sitting room taken on the iPhone.

Before dinner I was able to have a go on Liz's Kenwood stand mixer to make a batch of dough. I've been looking at stand mixers as a Christmas present and was set on a Kitchenaid model, but it seems the Kenwood model is just as good and about 2/3rds of the price. We brought the dough home and it is proving overnight in the garage ready to complete the process tomorrow.
