Fun and games
After a reasonable lie in til 9ish :) I cleared out the rest of the study in readiness for the camp bed for one of my nephews next Friday. I'm pleased by how much I have got rid of that has been sitting there in boxes and piles for many years :))
I then got a text from C to say S was out at the new house meeting the builders all morning and that she felt rotten with a bad back, headache and sore throat and could I go over and help her with Teddy this morning. I'd planned a bit more clearing and to make my iced Christmas pudding but couldn't resist a Mary Poppins moment so showered and headed over.
C took Tilly straight up to bed and I played with and photographed Teddy for a couple of hours (see blip double selfie). He was a little sweetie, playing nicely with his toys, finding seeing himself in the back of the camera hilarious, blowing competitive raspberries with me and pushing his train. He's not yet ready to walk unaided, always needing at least one hand on something. I gave him some lunch and we were doing just fine until his Dad arrived back, then he started grizzling and all he wanted was Daddy cuddles. Typical.
S and I took Teddy on a walk in the buggy to let him sleep and as it was a really beautifully crisp blue day we had a lovely stroll, past the ford and along the old railway. It was nice to have a chat with S on his own. That doesn't happen often.
Then I drove to Wallingford to visit C and J in their new house, which was surprisingly large for its frontage on the street. I like it and J certainly did. I think C is getting used to it still but after their last gorgeous, chocolate box house, I think this might take a while. We caught up on news and I showed them some Tilly piccies. I also gave C a framed photo of her and my Mum in their Cambridge college photo from 1959 and, while she already had a copy, hers wasn't framed and she appreciated it. They kindly treated me to a very pleasant early dinner at the Perch & Pike in South Stoke and then I drove home for 9.30pm.
It's been a very enjoayble day and to top it off C has just posted a lovely note on Facebook telling everyone I'm an amazing sister. Just polishing the halo!
