Click go the shears boy, click, click, click...
A glorious day for the annual Agricultural & Pastoral Show where town meets country. A late starter in the shows Motueka didn't have it's first one until 1935 but has had one every year since. It brings back memories when we went as a family, with our mothers in hats and gloves, a picnic lunch under the trees.
I was hard pushed which to blip. Would it be the horse that stalled at the jumps, the prize winning turnips, the pipe band, the candy floss and merry go round or the goats, sheep and cows in a cool spot under the trees.
In the end it was the sheep being shorn by blade shears. As the commentator said, "it's much quieter and you can have a yarn to the shearer next to you".
But it is only for small flocks or you could be shearing for weeks.
