Auckland from Waitemata
Clear water under our twin hulls as we returned from Waiheke. We had cycled around the western part of the island and spent some time sampling the wares at Obsidian Winery. An exclusive and expensive island, the haunt of ageing hippies and millionaires. The people we saw on the streets were either old (people in Auckland are all young) or tourists. The roads were busy twisty and hilly and would have been fantastic if a gale hadn't been blowing and of course if they hadn't been busy. The mountain bike routes looked awesome and the beaches were cool as. We need to spend more time here in the summer...
