26 years ago I went out to the pictures* with this guy. We've been together ever since.

Of course a lot of different things attracted me to him. But the main one was that I'd had a vision that in the far, far future he would develop the knowledge of how to build many things from old tyres.

Here you see him putting the finishing touches to a couple of water butts he has made out of inside out tyres and some bin bags. They are even linked by hose pipes which means the water runs off our shed roof**, into the first butt and then moves along the pipe to the next one. He intends to build a line of these to collect water from the roof***.

Clever isn't he? Mad, too! But then he has put up with me for all this time so that probably explains it.


If you happen to read this sweetheart, I love you loads... and you can build anything you like out of tyres, I think it's perfectly sensible behaviour!!!


* the pictures = the cinema in Scotland. We went to see Raiders of the Lost Ark, if you're interested.
** Yes that is our shed in the background, quite small isn't it?
*** I did point out that Orkney is not known for water shortages but this did not spoil his fun.
