Our five mile world

Moses and the burning bush!

The harsh, long winter has taken its toll and claimed many victims.
Reports say that the reduction in wildlife numbers will be apparent as the summer progresses. Here in our Five Mile world, we notice differences and losses already.

The most obvious are our plants and shrubs which have survived many winters as they have grown and developed into larger and stronger specimens.
We have counted dozens that have succumbed to the lengthy period of snow, wind and frozen ground.

Today's Blip shows Bill burning three of our lemon scented cypress trees.
They were bought as 6 inch little trees in tiny pots 10 years ago.

You could argue that we have had our moneys worth, but they took their place in our slate garden and the shape and structure they had created will be sadly missed.

It was a TOP bonfire nontheless! Bill also burnt off all the dead grass on our embankment yesterday as the wind direction and strength was just perfect.

We love bonfires
We love to cook on an open flame
We love fire.

Off to the garden centre for more little baby shrubs to nurse.
We love life!
