Star spotting in Los Angeles
Maggie and I have been dreaming of pancakes and maple syrup American style for some months now and this morning, finally, our wish came true. We had the most amazing breakfast in Mel's Drive In, proper 50's style (yes this isn?t retro inspired, it really has been going for 60 odd years!) diner.
It was bliss :O)
Later we managed to tear ourselves away from the most wondrous Hollywood walk of fame and its many superstars (Marylin is still going strong and seems to spend much of her time hanging out with Michael Jackson, all they say is true, you really do live forever in Hollywood!) to go down to Santa Monica today. It was a gorgeous day in LA (my practically translucent white Scottish white skin is now a most fetching red) however it was so misty down at the beach you would never have known. The locals knew though - they were all out sunbathing regardless :o)
We were very disappointed to find that Muscle Beach had no tanned, oily muscle men in sight! Perhaps there's some bicep bracing convention going on elsewhere that called them all away? We had a go dangling from the hoops and really it isn't as hard as it looks (especially if you just lift your feet of the ground and take a photograph really quickly...) We also did however see lots of skaters and cyclists with dogs up and down Venice so it was all good.
