Crocus on parade

These crocusses (?) or should that be croci have made me laugh on my way to work these last weeks. They obviously instructed the gardeners when they re-did St Andrew Square Gardens to plant crocusses but I wonder if the instruction was to make it look natural?

Quite a few of the Edinburgh gardens and parks have crocus and daffodils but they seem to have been planted in clusters and this looks more like they had grown there by their own accord rather than being planted by us. However, whoever planted these made sure there was only one bulb per hole and they would all stand roughly 5cm apart, a bit like soldiers on parade.

Had a great afternoon celebrating D's birthday by sitting outside, enjoying the sun and coffee and people watching in St Andrew Square.

Whenever I see someone with a camera I'm tempted to ask if they are blippers or not but then the tourists have come so it may well just be them.

This reminds me of my first year in Edinburgh, our local was the Bow Bar and we spent many winter nights there because the atmosphere was much nicer than the flat in the shadow of the castle. It was always easy to find a space to sit there during the winter month but come Easter suddenly there was this influx of foreign tourists which really annoyed me, they were taking over "our" place! (Within six months I'd forgotten that I'd come here as a non-Scot too and that this place was for sharing)
