A Sunday in Brisbane.

Day 2 in the city of Brisbane. Tough call on which pic to blip, but went for colour in the end. Teething problems with the D90 all weekend had me slightly on edge but got a few crackers of the skyline, which I was very pleased with.

We spent the day doing touristy things starting on the South Bank for a walk along the river, browsing the Sunday market and stopping for refreshments along the way. Di and I treated ourselves to a foot massage, which we both found excellent and had us both walking on air afterwards. A spin on the Brisbane Eye gave us a 12-minute blast of air conditioning - much smaller and faster than the London version, but good to do. Shocking photograph service though - pics taken beforehand and super-imposed onto a template of the gondola, printed and sold at nearly double the cost of the ride. Suffice to say we didn't buy ours!

Lunch in a nice deli-cafe, again al-fresco and then a very very cool river cruise, using the city ferry service, which for the bargain price of $5.90 gave us the best part of two hours on board. We went from South Bank to Apollo Road and nearly all the way back and sat in glorious sun-shine on the rear deck, which we had to ourselves for a great deal of the journey.

We met Dai (Di's hubby) after he'd packed up at a trade show he'd been working at for the weekend and went up to Mount Coo-Tha, about 15 minutes out of the city. We got there as the sun was going down, so watched it transform from day to night in the distance and I tried, but failed on the whole, to capture the change, using all manner of shutter speeds and f-stops. I needed a tripod (and now have the loan of one), so most of my efforts have been deleted, but it was a good little lesson! Back to the Dummies Guide tomorrow (if these forecasted storms appear) to do the relevant chapter on that.

Didn't do Brisbane at all in 2003 - just drove through/around it, but it definitely gets the thumbs up from me.
