Star

I saw this for the first time today. It's a sea-related piece of artwork atop the pier at Clogherhead, County Louth. This village has been a holiday destination for my family since 1969 and my sister, and her four girls live there too.
The pier was reconstructed, lengthened and enhanced in 2007 and I've been there since but I've never noticed this before.
It's a bit strange that it seems to be made from iron which will rust quickly in the sea air, but it looks great.
The starfish stands about four feet tall which isn't clear from my picture, and I like the cartoonish way it's standing on one "leg".
I imagine it's been the subject of some Spongebob humour from the villagers over the last few years.
