a good telling off

I was working to clear out last year's leaves when this blackbird came and sat near me and gave me a good telling off. I'm not sure if this was because I was disposing of a possible food source or whether he just objected to me being out in the garden when he is building a nest very close by. I think he has not chosen the best place as the nest is in a tree between us and our neighbour who has four children of seven years and under. It's going to be a stressful spring for him - not for the first time. At least we don't have the cat any more.
