Faggots!

Today we made faggots. Not the dead animal variety, not the American ones, but the cherry wood type.

One of the things BB and I have noticed when travelling around Europe, is that in Italy and particularly in Belgium you see people using every bit of the fire wood they collect, including all the twiggy bits that we throw away.

So this afternoon we cleared up all the trimmings from the cherry tree, made them into small bundles and have stacked them round the stove. Traditionally they were often used to fire bread ovens because the burn quickly, at a high temperature but clear quickly so we're using them to produce hot water from the stoves back boiler.

We also went to the beach where there was an unusually low tide, so we found lots of baby eels under the rocks and found an inflatable float which is just the ticket for making a swing for Bella.
