Fixing Stuff #1
I'm needing to get on top of "Fixing Stuff"...as my study is filling up again with a backlog!
This is a powered monitor from the Church PA. I think the kids may have been playing it a BIT LOUD.
It kept blowing fuses, so something was wrong. First checked for silly stuff, like frayed wires etc. Then the power supply, all looked good?
SO I disconnected the power supply from the rest of the circuit, and it was just fine, fuse didn't blow again....so there's something wrong on the main board then? Hmmmm.
So how do you find that? Well just stick in a big fuse that doesn't blow, then plug it in ans see what gets hot.
I did that, and almost immediately, one of the integrated circuits started smoking! It was the main amp chip....so a bit of googling, and ordered a spare at around £6.
Who said u need a degree in electronics for this stuff!
I'll see if that fixes it when the part arrives.
