Overflow by Jaume Plensa
We spent most of today in the City Park. It was gorgeously sunny so we got a picnic and hopped on the tram.
NOMA (New Orleans Museum of Art) is situated in the grounds and we had a bit of a nose around there (it was free today, yay! anything we don't have to pay for is unexpected and most pleasing!) then spent ages wandering around the Sculpture Garden outside. We loved it. So relaxing, we happily snapped away and entertained ourselves among the sculptures before exploring the rest of the park and finding a lovely place to sit and read. Ahhhh.....
It was actually really lovely to get out of the city centre too, so far we'd spent most of our time in the French Quarter and its beautiful, but its also incredibly busy and grimy and stinky!
We did venture back in for a bit of dinner though. Today was supposed to be a completely healthy day and we were doing really well with our yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, rivita, humous and carrots for lunch, we were most proud of ourselves for not having any muffins or donuts! Then came the shrimp po-boys at The House Of Blues for dinner. Well.....we were hungry! They were delicious and as it was happy hour it seemed rude not to have a few drinks too :O)
I would like to point out at this juncture that I thought the House Of Blues was a real house of blues that actually played....well....blues! I had no idea that it was in fact a chain of restaurants in many ways similar to the Hard Rock Cafe. Hmmmm.....
Still, the food was good!
