This was the real "first day" of my holidays - no more study club. Dimairt and I enjoyed a lovely walk before heading off to Pat's for Book Club.
The book this month was Linda Grant's "The Clothes on their Backs", which I really enjoyed.
The meeting started with Marylyn, our leader, apologising for being late. She had been reading an e mail she had received from "a local tradesman", who, she said, had given her a total breakdown of all the materials needed for her new extension, a breakdown of the exact number of man hours it would require, and a definite date by which the job would be complete.
All jaws dropped.
Who is this paragon? We were all reaching for pens and paper to get a note of his phone number, when Marylyn dealt the cruel blow..... "April Fool!"
