The Old Kirk at Balquhidder

We allowed plenty of time for driving up to Loch Tay and took a short detour to Balquhidder where Rob Roy is buried in the kirkyard. Also there are the remains of the "Old Kirk" which was replaced by the current building in 1855. It seems that St Angus brought Christianity to Balquhidder in the 600s and was buried here with the original "little kirk" on the site of his grave being replaced by this one in 1631.

It seems a very tranquil place now - no outlaws, warring clans or cattle rustlers in evidence - and Loch Goil looked beautiful in the sunshine.
