Thermal shields?
I'm starting my new book.
"How Apollow Flew to the Moon".
This is unlike all the other "biographical" and general interest books...and takes a real engineering perspective on it all. Fascinating.
Things like the Lunar Modual Ascent Engine (the engine that blasted them back off the moon) was never tested after assembly. They couldn't! The engine could only ever be used once. So after they assembled it...once they fired it, that was it done!
So theyassembled it on earth, and the first time it fired, was to take them off the moon!
To get the engine as reliable as possible, it only had FOUR moving parts...cool.
If only my Porsche was that reliable.
I took a blip of what looked like the foil wrapped round the legs of the lunar lander (which infact is just plastic mylar film as a thermal blanket). It was actually just the remains of an easter egg.
Busy day tho. L announced that he was taking his acoustic kit down to play with the yoof band for the baptismal service! He was loud!
