Long Slow Distance

Those socks were white an hour ago. But after today's Lewes 10k Fun Run it's hardly surprising that they will never be white again.

The start and finish was the all weather athletics track at the leisure centre, where a fine turnout was greeted by warm sunshine. The run itself followed stretches of road, slippery chalk trail, deep muddy areas where herds of cattle had recently been loitering knee-deep (judging by the cowpats, and hoofprints overflowing with suspiciously brown liquid), followed by rain sodden fields (quite refreshing on the feet, actually).

I'm pleased to say that my troublesome achilles tendons performed well. But why, oh why, did I not wear my hybrid road/trail shoes?
