More blue skies
This is the view from Penrhyn Castle. It's a mock castle built in the mid-19th century. The castle is enormous and beautiful and full of lots of wonderfully over the top stuff like a one-ton slate bed made for Queen Victoria. I particularly liked the stained glass windows decorated with the signs of the Zodiac.
Met up with some friends who were staying with their folks nearby. The view looks out to the Great Orme of Llandudno which was where we all headed to afterwards to eat fantastic fish and chips on the beach. That's right, fish and chips on the beach, in the sunshine in North Wales on a bank holiday weekend. Extraordinary. A really wonderful day.
Only blot on the holiday horizon was Carl getting a bad back. Driving a campervan around mountain lanes didn't suit him. So to make life simpler we decided to pay a surprise bonus visit to my folks in Wolverhampton and so break the lengthy journey home into two. Despite having only just returned from their own trip away (to stay at our house in London) we received the usual warm and hospitable welcome.
