I Ate A Bug

This morning was Liam's baseball game and Loren's practice. Then we headed to 'Bugfest' at Oak Grove Park Nature Center. It has various stations that taught the kids about bugs. Once they answered a question at that station, they got a stamp. When they got all their stamps, they turned their paper in for a prize. Besides the learning stations there were cricket races, mealworm races, craft areas, game areas, etc. It was quite uncomfortable being around huge tarantulas, hissing cockroaches, beetles and other creepy crawlers. The things we do for our kids!

My photo inspiration from today is the area of Bugfest that my kids will remember the most, the 'Grasshopper Gourmet' area. My kids actually stood in line to eat bugs. There were crickets and mealworms. Loren chose to eat a mealworm on bread with a dollop of chocolate. Liam chose to eat a mealworm on a frito with a dollop of chocolate. Landon was smart and chose just to observe. They both came out of the bet $2.00 richer. To my surprise Liam stood in line a second time to try his mealworm on his newly-purchased Snickers bar. Here's a picture of Liam wearing his "I ate a bug" sticker!
