Signs of spring

Here it comes!

Went out this morning to look at birds and found a few, including my first spring migrant (the Northern Rough-Winged Swallow)! I saw a pair already busy building a nest. Little buds are forming on the trees, woodpeckers are investigating nest cavities, and little fishies are swimming around in the river.

I came upon a pool of stagnant water off of the river that has apparently been hosting a brilliant neon green algae for some time--it's a rather extensive patch of nuclear waste-like sludge. Great for photos!!

I ordered the D90, finally. I am very excited.
